Gilding Lilies

So I have a tendency towards overkill. My mother used to tell me to “not guild the lily” when I was younger. She recognized that I, at a very young age, was dangerously drawn to things with as much yardage of purple polyester lace as the glue gun could apply. Unfortunately, I was head over flippin’ heels for Gilded Lilies. Fortunately, the 80′s are over and I’m ever so grateful that there is a
minimalist trend (no, not trend, longer than trend, what’s that?) in full swing. Goodbye Battersey Boxes, Hello Dust Free Home.

Funny, my mother isn’t endorsing my lack of decor. She doesn’t seem to think that my cell phone charger constitutes a home accessory. When I build a house, it will have three rooms. Living, Kitchen, Bedroom. All the other sundries will just have to multi-function within one of those three spaces. We’ll see how long my lack of guilding lasts. Once a guilder, always a guilder?
