Man, today is a good day. Maybe it’s the caffeine, maybe it’s the fact that the house is moving along, maybe it’s that work is going so well. But I just had to blog and say, the glass is half-full, folks.
House: leaky bathroom has been re-tiled. Scary oak trees have been trimmed back. Wood treads for stair way are cut, ready to be installed. Kitchen cabinet doors are off, hopefully will be painted by the end of the week. Laundry room has new tile and paint. Family room woodwork is almost finished. The best part: the wood floors are down! The worst part: we haven’t gotten to the expensive stuff yet, ie: kitchen and bar countertops, appliances and master bathroom.
On a more somber note, I find myself troubled by the things that are going on in our nation and world lately. Stuff is bubbling, starting to boil, and it makes me nervous, just like it always has, for our country, our humanity. When I start to feel this way, I remind myself that God is in charge, and that He is gracious, and merciful, and praise Him for this! It’s hard to stay discouraged about it when I remember that His plan is perfect, and heading in the Christmas season, as retail as it might be, gives me even more reason to celebrate and praise Him. (As if He doesn’t give me reason enough anyway–He is so good!)
Last year, the people I babysit for printed inside their holiday card: “In celebration of His birth, we wish you a very Merry Christmas.” I loved it. The simple proclamation, reminder, as to why we celebrate. Amen!

Hi, I'm Whitney. I am first and foremost a child of God, a mum to two rambunctious little boys, and lucky enough to call the most amazing man I know my husband. By day, I run a stationery company, and consult at the intersection of tech and graphic design. At night, I dream of charming cottages by the sea, silk ballgowns, and a perfectly organized office.
